Modifications
Common practice in the world of pro-audio mods, as I have observed, is to replace the key 'weak links' in a microphone or piece of gear; this is where my service is different from many others. The above approach helps immensely and delivers a very good sounding product. The extensive nature of my approach offers a product that is a cut above, because greater detail has been attended to.

In all my modification work I strive for the most excellent sounding possible end result and a product that will last. I use high quality components to replace and upgrade anything that will noticeably and positively affect the sound quality of the given device. Generally that means every passive and active component of a microphone.

Because of the extent of my modifications, it perhaps would be better described as 'rebuilding'. I have discovered, through listening, testing and experimentation, that every component of a piece of audio equipment affects the sound in some measure. I have come to the habit of replacing most active components (FETs, op amps etc.), all capacitors, all resistors in signal path of the microphone, some resistors that are in the power supply/conditioning portions of the circuits, fuses, wire and, in some gear, other components as well.

Though I specialize in the modification of microphones, I also work on preamplifiers, recording interfaces and most audio equipment (see the modification submenu or, if you have something not listed, email me at info@sidegatestudio.com).
