Pro-sumer Tube Microphone Modification (Mojave and similar) $329
*introductory special

This is a mod for those mics in your locker that you hoped would take you into the big leauges on a budget and you would love to like more than you actually do.

These microphones are very good already yet they don't quite compare to the top names in the game. Usually a few compromises have been made in the mic and in the power supply that prevent these mics from being their best (or comparing to the beloved classics). A few changes can bring them to a higher level of quality and refinement and change it from second-string into your 'go-to' mic. (Typically the capsule, transformer and tube are of good quality, but I will advise on a per case basis when the microphone is in hand if the case is otherwise, and determine cost at that time.)

This modification includes the replacement of essential capacitors and resistors in the microphone and power supply as well as a slight redesign of the powersupply for smoother response and a sliky top end, the optional addition of a switched EQ capacitor (where applicable and when requested), new solid-core wire where warranted, and reconstruction of the headbasket as needed or requested.

Should you also change your 7 pin cable? Probably not... see here for why.

The switched EQ capacitor is appropriate on a brighter microphone and allows for you to have a great mellow sounding mic for vocals and most other sources, but reserves you the right to have the stock capsule's added brightness at your disposal if you need to brighten up a source such as a dull sounding acoustic guitar or a singer that needs some added air or edge.
